How to Make Perfect Rice
Making rice from scratch is so easy you're sure to stick with it.
The most common way to make rice is with 2 parts liquid to 1 part rice. Salt the water generously and bring everything to a boil. To add extra flavor, use stock instead of water.
Cover, lower the heat and let it simmer for 18 minutes. Don't peek because it lets too much moisture escape. Let the rice stand for a few minutes. This makes it nice and fluffy.
You can also cook rice like pasta. This is great for varieties like brown rice that can take a long time to cook. Start with plenty of salted boiling water.
Try any of these three easy methods, and you'll never go back to instant rice from a box.
